What is a constellation?

Before we talk about contellations, I will explain what make up constellations.....stars! Stars are big balls of gas. Stars have many colors, shapes, and sizes. A contellation is made with many stars. Those stars groups together to make a picture. They are really far away, but look close to us. A long time ago constellations helped people to find their way. They were used as directions. They used it to navigate on land and the ocean. Farmers also used the constellations to know when to plant and when to harvest. Many of the constellations came from stories of those pictures in the sky. As the earth rotates we see many constellations. One of them is called Circumpolar Constellations. That means you can see them all the time. Different constellations become visible in fall and spring.Constellations do not change.Constellations stay in fixed patterns. The Earth rotates and revolves to make them look like they are moving.
